Le but n'est pas de montrer des bijoux finis mais plutôt de proposer des outils pour donner au lecteur une méthode de travail lui permettant de représenter correctement ses idées. Cet ouvrage analyse les aspects fondamentaux de la représentation graphique des bijoux. Les liens de volume, l'équilibre entre plein et vide, le traitement des surfaces métalliques, les matériaux et couleurs les plus chauds et les plus froids, et le lien entre le support et la pierre ; tous cela est expliqué en détails, ainsi que la manière d'illuminer le bijou, le traitement de la lumière et le jeu des clairs-obscurs pour donner de la profondeur. Ce livre commence avec les structures géométriques simples pour évoluer vers des formes plus complexes à partir de différentes déformations et reproductions. Le but n'est pas de montrer des bijoux finis mais plutôt de proposer des outils pour donner au lecteur une méthode de travail lui permettant de représenter correctement ses idées. Des projections orthogonales et axonométriques aux techniques de dessin (aquarelle, tempera, encre, technique mixte) en passant par les différents supports possibles, le lecteur trouvera une base de laquelle s'inspirer pour élaborer ses propres créations. Dans ce livre, des bagues, tiares, pierres précieuses, bracelets et chaînes sont représentés comme s'ils étaient réels, avec des effets comme la profondeur, la brillance et la transparence.
